The Omen As Seen on 6/6/06

So both Jose and I saw this, just not together. First off, the show was sold out. Who was there you wonder? All sorts of dumb teenagers. People who were screaming for no reason, jumping at scenes that were in the trailer. Come on now. Anyway, I have not seen the original so I have nothing to compare it to. Someone that I saw it with has seen the original and said it is almost the exact same. I myself think the movie is Bueno, now take that as a barely though. It is a slow moving movie that does not warrant a "horror" genre, more a drama with some "scary" parts. See the original.

Just like Fresh, I have never seen the original Omen. People keep telling me it is quite good, so I might check it out. However, this Omen is just plain awful. There is nothing scary about it, Julia Stiles seems miscast, and the kid just stands there. The theatre was also packed with preteen girls who screamed if a character talked, it didn't matter what they said, the girls would scream. Save your money, go see something else.

Missed Opportunities

Ok this post is for the movies that I have seen without Jose, yes folks it does happen. I will just give you a list and whether or not you should see it.

See No Evil-Muy Mal
Over The Hedge-Bueno
The Break Up-Bueno

That is it for things recently seen. There was more, but they are now out of the theater, so.

Much like District B-13, I knew nothing about this moive going in. Jose found this one, we saw it at a second run theater for $2.50. A very good movie. Barry Pepper is a very underrated actor in my opinion. Fortunately the movie is now available on DVD, so you will have a hard time seeing it in the theater, but you can rent it.

Why are you still here? Go to Netflix and order it now. Movie is Muy Bueno.

Great movie, Tommy Lee Jones' character shows us what friendship is all about. I like to think I would do the same for one of my friends, except Meathead. Muy Bueno. Be aware there is quite a bit of spanish in the movie, and Tommy Lee does a great job with it. One more thing, I really enjoyed the score, not sure why, but it worked quite well with the story.

I had not heard much about this movie before I saw it. I heard about it the day before I saw it. Fortunately someone informed me about this movie. Also Jose and I have been trying to "broaden" our viewings. Some people will not see this move due to the fact that it is subtitled. I myself have no problems with subtitled movies, I would rather see it subtitiled than dubbed. It is an action packed movie, the fight and chase scenes are quite good. If you have seen and liked Ong-Bak then this movie is right up your alley. This movie Es Bueno.

B13 features some of the best action scenes this year! Cool action, hot girl, comedy, violence, what more could you ask for? Great stuff all around. Perhaps my only complaint was the length, way too short. Around 85 minutes I think. I think that's the first time I wished a movie was longer. Muy bueno

X3: As Seen On 5/26/06

So let me start off by saying this. If you like the X-men movies as movies, then more than likely you will like the third installment. If you are a fan of the comics, more than likely you will hate the movie. I myself happen to be a fan of both, so I am in quite the quandary. With that being said I think the only way to really judge something is to see it, granted we all have our tastes as far as what we will or will not sit through. Try something new or continue in the thread of the rest. Let us know what you think....

Santa Maria, where to start? My biggest problem with this flick is they should have picked one plot, and done it well. Instead of throwing every story they could think of. There is way too much going on. Brian Synger left a great franchise on a great note. He set up X3, but the big heads at Fox forgot about it. Last Stand is the Batman and Robin of the franchise. No, it's nowhere as bad, but it is by far the weakest in the series. The one positive being Beast, great stuff there.

The Da Vinci Code As Seen On 5/23/06

Based on the widely popular book of the same title. Many people protested this movie, well religous crazy people were the ones protesting. I finished the book on the Sunday so the details were still fresh in my head when I saw the movie, so my opinon is very one sided. I personally did not like the movie for this fact. Much was changed from the book to the screen, too much for my liking. I say the movie is Mal, many disagree. Oh well....

I've never read the book, that would involve me reading, and that's a pain. Having said that, I do not think there will ever be a movie that lives up to a book. I for one enjoyed Da Vinci Code, It kept me interested, I was never lost, and I thought the cast was great. People who know me will tell you I'm not religious, but I still knew what they were talking about. I do feel anyone can go see this movie and enjoy it. I give it a Bueno, but like Freshness said, if you read the book, you're likely to disagree.

So on first the trailer for this movie I had mixed emotions. Remakes are usually not nearly as good as the original. There are very few exceptions, unfortunately this movie is not one. There is very little character development. This movie should be avoided like the boat should have the wave as it Es Mal.

I saw this twice, it's bad, but you can't help it, you have to watch,. Fresh mentioned the characters, or lack there of. If I'm on a capsized ship, I don't want Josh Lucas saving me, and for the love of god, why must there always be a kid? Leave them, who cares? If you want to see this story done right, see the original, and if you don't know by now, this gets a Mal.
